It can be pretty tricky to figure out what is triggering allergy symptoms. And often it's just easier to treat the runny nose and watering eyes rather than taking the time to pinpoint the allergen that's the culprit. But there are ways you can narrow the field of possible symptom-causing allergens by making a few simple changes.

Try these 4 non-invasive and proactive suggestion for identifying trouble-causing airborne allergens and removing them from your life for good.

Reduce Chemical Exposure--Many household products such as new carpet, pressed wood furniture, linoleum, paint, adhesives, wood varnish and stain, household cleaners, office copier toner, cigarette smoke, and even air fresheners and cosmetics contain chemicals such as formaldehyde, benzene, chloride, and toluene to name a few.

These products often contain chemicals which vaporize easily into the air which then trigger allergic reactions as well as being the cause of long term health problems.

Fortunately, there are now many alternative products on the market that are made up of people and earth friendly ingredients and do not contain hazardous chemical compounds.

Choose natural materials, ask about the contents of products, and the processes used to make them, choose products that are environmentally friendly and you will find your indoor environment will become a healthier place to be.

Clean Rather Than Stir--Choose a hepa vacuum cleaner that will trap particles rather than a feather duster or dry cloth that will likely send pollutants airborne again. Make sure you throw out the used vacuum bag so the pollutants are really out of your environment.

Use alternative cleaning solutions such as water and vinega, a damp cloth rather than a dry one, or water and baking soda. They clean just as well and they help you avoid inhaling airborne chemical fumes from store-bought cleaning solutions.

Reevaluate Medication Often--Talking with your doctor frequently about prescription drugs and how well they are working is crucial.

But, if you are taking over the counter remedies, putting the above suggestions in place and determining whether they make a difference may save you money, and increase your overall sense of well being, and quality of life.

Reduce Biological Pollutants--Biological pollutants include pet dander, mold and mildew spores, dust mites. It's not unusual to find these pollutants in the majority of homes. They are a simply a fact of life and have little to do with how clean you keep your home. But to really experience relief, you will need to continually filter the air to keep the allergen count low.

A HEPA or high efficiency particle arresting air purifier will greatly reduce these airborne triggers down to .3 microns.
